OKWU Splits Final Regular Season Road-Trip

Oklahoma Wesleyan made their final road trip of the regular season this Saturday up in Ottawa, Kansas, and came away with a split. We'll start with the girl's game first as they started the Saturday with a 3 pm tip. They were without the services of Sydnee Schovanec, which surely played a part in this one. Lady Eagles hung around as long as they could, but fell to the Lady Braves, 74-51.
Leading Scorer for the Lady Eagles was River Jeffries who had all 13 of her points in the second half, followed by Mahaley Farmer with 12-points. Lady Eagles fall to 8-18 on the year and 7-13 in the KCAC.
On the guy's side, it was a different story, as the OKWU men took their 8th ranked squad to the Ottawa Braves. OKWU would use a huge second half to power them forward for a 17-point win and the season sweep of the Braves, 74-57. Eagles played a tough first half though, as it was tied after the first 20 minutes at 31-all.
Derrick Talton Jr. led the way in scoring for the Eagles, and just like Jeffries for the Lady Eagles, he had all of his 13-points in the second half. Jaden Lietzke was right behind Talton Jr. with 11, including this slam late in the second half.
Here are OKWU Men Head Coach Donnie Bostwick's thoughts on the win over the Braves.
Both Wesleyan squads are at home twice next week, with St. Mary's coming to town on Wednesday for the first matchup, and then Sterling College comes to town on Saturday for OKWU's senior night.
