A Bartlesville man is facing a felony charge after he allegedly tried to use a car to break through a door at Ranch Heights Elementary School.

35-year-old Ryan Matthew Beck appeared in Washington County District Court on Friday on charges of malicious injury to property from an incident Tuesday night. According to an affidavit, Bartlesville police were called Wednesday morning to Ranch Heights Elementary for a report of a vehicle that had damaged a set of doors near the gym and cafeteria.

Video surveillance shows that just after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday a vehicle drove into the parking lot, drove around in a few circles, then ran over a parking curb, flattening a tire and driving up to the door in question before hitting the doors with the front of the car. The video reportedly shows the car backing up and ramming the door three more times before driving off.

Crimestoppers put out photos of the suspect car, which led to a tip from a Bartlesville tire shop that had a vehicle matching the description in for service. The damaged vehicle matched the video evidence.

Following an investigation, police were able to locate the owner of the car, who said she had loaned it to Beck and had brought the car to the tire shop for repairs. Other video surveillance at a retail store confirmed Beck was driving the car in question.

His bond was set at $15,000. Beck's next court date is Sept. 8.
