Two Dewey residents appeared in Washington County District Court Friday for a probable cause hearing in a case of possible child abuse.

27-year-old Keenan Michael Abreau and 28-year-old Brittany Ann Blaire Edmundson were arrested Thursday following an investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
According to an affidavit, deputies were called to a Bartlesville medical clinic on Sept. 13. The affidavit alleges a minor child had facial injuries consistent with being hit with an object.

The victim reportedly told day care staff, medical staff at the clinic and a forensic interviewer that Abreau had hit them with a hanger. The victim said Edmundson was present during the incident, but did not intervene to stop the alleged abuse. Deputies also noticed bruising on the victim's lower legs.

Investigators obtained a warrant and searched the home in Dewey. Deputies say they found a clothes hanger that matched the victim's description, as well as drugs, paraphernalia and possible stolen items.

Special Judge Kyra Franks found probable cause for the suspects' arrest. Edmundson is being held on a $75,000 bond. Abreau was originally given a $100,000 bond, but after a profane outburst during the hearing, Franks raised his bond to $150,000. Both suspects will appear in court again on Monday afternoon while the District Attorney's office decides on what charges should be filed.
