The Washington County Commissioners met Monday morning to take care of several items of business, including a letter that will assist in the county's participation in Oklahoma opioid settlements with drug manufacturers and pharmacies.

Commissioner Mitch Antle says the letter would allow the Washington County Sheriff's Office to engage in the process.

The letter was addressed to the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Board, which oversees grants to cities, counties and agencies across the state to assist with fighting the opioid crisis. For this round of grants, Attorney General Gentner Drummond has authorized  up to $23 million in funding.

The is the first grant distribution since the Abatement Board was established 3 years ago.
