Bartlesville Man Leads Police on Chase; Almost Hits Pedestrian

A Bartlesville man was seen in court on Wednesday on the charges of vehicle theft, eluding a peace officer, speeding, transporting open bottle of liquor and driving with license suspended. Kenneth Raines was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 4 after he failed to pull over during a traffic stop.
According to an affidavit, Raines drove at a high rate of speed and almost hit a pedestrian in the street during the pursuit. Raines is alleged of driving through front yards without due regard for safety, and the pursuit had to eventually be called off due to safety precautions. A short time later, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was able to stop Raines.
It was reported that speeds during the pursuit reached over 100 mph. Raines vehicle also reeked of alcohol as a bottle of Voodoo Ranger was found open in the car. During his arraignment on Wednesday, District Attorney Will Drake mentioned that Raines had 13 prior felony cases in South Carolina before moving to Oklahoma roughly six months ago. Due to those factors, his bond was set at $50,000.
His next court date is set for Oct. 27 at 9 a.m.
