The Nowata County Commissioners met on Tuesday this week for their regular weekly meeting due to the Columbus Day Holiday and discussed familiar topics. Nowata County Court Clerk Kay Spurgeon gave an update on the new flooring that was recently put in over the weekend at the courthouse.

The next point of discussion was centered around repair and maintenance to the jail locks on the doors at the Nowata County Jail. Sheriff McClain explained that there was no maintenance done last year on the doors to save money, and now multiple locks are sticking on the jail doors. Here was Commissioner Troy Friddle’s response.

They made a motion to approve the maintenance on the door. They also approved an agreement for the Nowata County Sheriff to work with the OSBI for internet crimes against children.

The Commissioners will meet again next Monday at 9 am at the Nowata County Courthouse Annex and the meeting is open to the public.
