Phillips 66 President/CEO Mark Lashier addressed the recent layoffs in Bartlesville during a forum on Tuesday, and that even though there were tough decisions made, Bartlesville will remain as an important part of Phillips 66's operations for the future.

Back in August, Phillips 66 announced around 100 employees and contractors based in Bartlesville would be impacted by the layoffs. During Tuesday's forum, Lashier said the company was beginning to lose some of its competitive advantage and is facing some challenges as the world's energy landscape changes.

During an interview with Bartlesville Radio after the forum, Lashier said Bartlesville holds a special place for Phillips 66 and for him personally. He says the future looks bright for the company's continued presence in the community.

Lashier says Phillips 66 will continue with their midstream, downstream and marketing positions. He says any talk of Phillips 66 beginning to look at rejoining the exploration and production side of the energy sector is premature.
