An Osage Nation woman will receive a national honor. The U.S. Mint has started shipping out quarters with the likeness of Maria Tallchief, who broke barriers as a Native American ballet dancer.

The Maria Tallchief Quarter is the tenth coin in the American Women Quarters Trademark Program. This is part of a four-year series celebrating the contributions made by women in the United States. Tallchief was also on the $1 coin earlier this year.

On Sunday, Marjorie Tallchief will have a statue re-dedication ceremony at the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum.
