Bruin Baseball Drops Tough One at Jenks

Tough one for Bartlesville High baseball, as the Bruins lost in nine innings on Tuesday night at Jenks.

Trojans walked it off on BHS with two outs in the ninth for a 2-1 victory.

The big hit evaded both teams for most of the game, as it was a pitcher’s duel south of Tulsa. Brenden Asher was brilliant through eight one-run innings for the Bruins. Asher used his defense and tempo to stymie the Trojans.

This strikeout in the seventh helped send the game to extras.

Both teams scored single runs in the fifth inning, and neither would score again until the Jenks walk off winner.

Kaden Romesburg nearly played the hero on both sides of the ball. Romesburg almost worked around a leadoff double on the mound in the ninth to extend the game. Jenks would end up scoring the game-winning run from third base on a well-placed single up the middle.

Meanwhile on offense, Romesburg was Bruin who scored Bartlesville’s only run of the game off a Jenks error.

All eight of Jenks’ runs in the two-game District set came with two outs. BHS drops to 10-17 on the year and 2-10 in District play.

Bartlesville is off on Wednesday and will have two non-District road games over the next two days.
