An annual tradition for more than a decade, Bartlesville High baseball playing at a Spring Break destination during Bartlesville’s spring break.

The Bruins snapped a four-game losing skid with a nice win over Pulaski Academy out of Arkansas on Monday in game one of their trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama.

BHS won the game over Pulaski, 7-3 in eight innings.

The Bruin’s grinded out eight hits, all singles. Four runs for Bartlesville in the top of the eighth inning would end up being the difference. Brenden Asher started the inning with a single. Another base hit from Sam Marcell along with errors from Pulaski would get BHS ahead by four.

It was more than enough for the win behind another gem on the mound from sophomore starting pitcher Barrett Merciez. He went the full eight innings, gave up six hits, three runs, only one earned. He had seven strikeouts and four walks.

Bartlesville improves to 4-6 and will continue with games in Alabama early this week.
