Dewey softball star Gabby Higbee announced her commitment to the University of Tulsa on Wednesday. Higbee starred at Dewey for the past four seasons—including leading the Lady Doggers to three consecutive state tournaments.

Dewey’s state tournament run ended in the semifinals last Friday when it fell to North Rock Creek. Higbee posted a .560 batting average with 10 home runs in her senior campaign. She was named the 3A-5 District Player of the Year after her incredible performance.

Higbee had previously committed to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi but a change to the Islanders coaching staff led to a re-opening of her recruitment. At Tulsa, Higbee will get to play Division I softball and still stay close to home. Higbee entertained several other D-I offers before announcing her commitment to the Golden Hurricane over social media.

Fellow Lady Dogger Kaleena Downing will also be playing Division I softball. She had previously announced her commitment to Western Illinois.
