First Bruin Baseball Game on KWON

Our first Bartlesville High baseball game of the year will be broadcasted on Monday evening on KWON, as the Bruins return home following a solid week in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Bartlesville went 3-1 during four games over Spring Break.

It is clear now more than a third of the way through the season that pitching will be the Bruin’s strength. The Bartlesville pitching staff has a 3.2 earned run average through the first 13 games of the year. Teams are only hitting .269 against BHS.

Tonight, it will likely be Barrett Merciez on the bump. The sophomore is 2-1 with a 1.21 ERA. Teams have only hit .190 against him. Spectacular numbers for a pitcher navigating his way through his first month of varsity baseball.

After a District series earlier this season, Bruin head coach Cody Price said Merciez has been up to the task as a starter.

Monday night, Bartlesville hosts Sand Springs. The Sandites are one game up on Bartlesville in the 6A-District 3 standings.

A 6:00 first pitch this evening, it is a game we will carry on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1. Video coverage on KWONTV.com.

Pregame should start around 5:50.
