Haddock Scores 33 Against Best Friend; Wins Player of the Week

Brooks Haddock knew the game was in his hands. Early in the second half in Saturday’s win against York College, Senior Lance Tipton was ejected after a skirmish in which he wasn’t given the benefit of the doubt. Tipton and Haddock were the lone double-figures scorers left from last year’s 30-win conference championship team in 2018-19.

The only problem was Haddock had been shut down for the whole first half. On the other side Panthers guard Tyreece Berry had limited him to just four made free throws early on. While it played out as intense battle on the floor between two scrappy guards—love was shared the moment the horn sounded.

Haddock and Berry formed a very formidable backcourt duo at Muskogee High School just three years prior. While they only shared one season together, their bond runs deep.

The pair combined to average 33 points per contest on a Roughers team that won 16 games. Berry went the junior college route as he spent time at Independence Community College while Haddock finished up at Muskogee and then signed with OKWU.

The on court action on Saturday saw Haddock light up the score board for an astounding 33 points, a new career high for. Behind his 29 second half points the Eagles stabilized and won 90-73. Haddock was happy to win no matter who the opponent was.

It was announced Monday that Haddock was selected as the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of Week for his performance.
