Bartlesville High baseball picked up probably its most impressive win of the season on Tuesday night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

BHS held on to beat Norman North 2-0 behind a complete game shutout from Barrett Merciez.

The sophomore was tremendous. He retired the final 13 Timberwolves he faced to slam the door shut.

Here is out the final out sounded on Monday night on KWON.

Final line for Merciez: Seven innings, 76 pitches. He gave up two hits. He struck out six and walked none.

BHS did enough on offense to get the lead early. Kaden Romesburg, Brenden Asher and Brett Eaves all got three straight two-out base hits in the bottom of the third to give BHS a 2-0 lead it would not give up.

This one from Eaves would give the Bruins their final margin of victory.

Asher would end up with two hits, while Jackson Zaun and Sam Marcella also had a base knock.

Merciez now has a 2.1 ERA more than halfway through his first season in the District rotation. Head coach Cody Price talks about his start.

Bartlesville will go for the sweep behind Brenden Asher in game two of the set on Tuesday night from Norman.

A 6:00 first pitch. No radio coverage, but you can rewatch Monday night’s big win archived on KWONTV.com.

Bartlesville is now 10-13 overall and 2-7 in 6A-District 3 play.
