Our in-state men’s basketball teams may have all missed the postseason, but several of the women’s basketball teams are still kicking this week.

Most notably the OU women are a 5-seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. The Sooners will face Florida Gulf Coast in the first round on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 in Bloomington, Indiana.

Both Tulsa and ORU are also in the Women’s NIT. TU won a share of the American Athletic Conference regular season title this season. Golden Hurricane women went 23-9. TU will face Arkansas in the first round of the NIT at home on Thursday night at 6:30.

Meanwhile ORU had one of its best seasons in women’s basketball history, finishing third in the Summit League. Golden Eagle AD and Bartlesville-Native Tim Johnson resigned the Golden Eagle’s women’s coach Kelsi Musick to a contract extension yesterday.

ORU had its first 20-win season since 2012, going 21-10. ORU women will host Grambling State at 7:00 on Thursday night in the first round of the women’s NIT.

Oklahoma State had earned an NIT bit but declined the invitation after injuries at the end of the year. There are reportedly multiple Cowgirl basketball players already in the transfer portal.
