Ironmen Football Wraps up 7 v. 7

Nowata’s football team was one of the few area squads that decided to go on with a seven-on-seven passing league this summer.

The Ironmen wrapped up three passing leagues at Pawhuska this past week.

New head coach Graham Snelding was happy to get the opportunity to institute parts of his new Air Raid offensive scheme on the field.

The Nowata scheme shift means the team will likely have new player under center in the fall. Trenton Smith started all 11 games at quarterback in the 2019 season, including the playoff loss at Beggs.

Smith’s athleticism will be suited for a more dynamic role in 2020, possibility in the backfield or split out at receiver.

Snelding says either Broden Monroe or Dagan West will the starting quarterback job.

Snelding added all members of the team have been hard at work in the weight room as well. Nowata will continue to condition until workouts can start in mid-August.
