More on New Nowata Men's Basketball Coach
It’s been just over a week now since Nowata named Derick Ott as their new men’s basketball coach in the wake of the resignation of former skipper, Nate Smith. Ott says that a couple of things played into his decision making on taking this job, but one that he could not ignore was that he has a son who is about to start his freshman year of high school basketball.
Nowata is going to be returning almost their entire starting unit, as the only starter they lost to graduation was Skylar Stevens. While it is a big loss, three of the other four ironmen starters, Kaleb Bashford, Spencer Bullen, and Yamarion Cole all averaged double-digit scoring.
Ott will try to build on an impressive two-year run from Nate Smith that saw the Ironmen go 36-13 with a district and conference title.
