New Quarterbacks Score Five Times, Dewey Bests Miami

It’s not every day you score 50 points against a 4A school on the road in the season opener—but that’s exactly what the Dewey Bulldoggers did on Friday night. Dewey won a wild contest over 4A Miami 52-42. The Doggers deployed something of a two-quarterback system that gave the Wardogs defense all kinds of trouble.

Junior Tate Lewis did most of the legwork at quarterback. Lewis had touchdown connections with Dallas Mulliken and Jacob Mouser on long touchdowns. Sophomore Trent Muninger handled the goal line package under center and cashed in with three short rushing touchdowns. Corbin Buford tacked on two more scores on the ground as well.

The Doggers win their first season opener since 2012. It appears as if the re-tooled Dewey offense is going to be just fine. The win is a special won for head coach Trent Turner who defeats his alma mater.

Dewey has its home opener next Friday against Quapaw a game that can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM.
