The Nowata Ironmen football team is looking at its third consecutive Friday without a football game. Nowata last took the field for a game on October 2 in a loss to Adair. Nowata suffered from COVID-19 issues within the football program and the school.

This Friday’s game with Kansas High School has been bumped back to Monday, October 26. Head coach Graham Snelding says if all goes to plan the team should return to the practice field on Thursday. Snelding says the team is doing what it can to keep the season going.

On Tuesday, the OSSAA announced that all teams will qualify for the playoffs. This gives Nowata some relief as an 0-5 five football team staring at the prospects of four games between October 26 and November 6. Coach Snelding talks about the decision from the OSSAA.

This will be the second consecutive season that the Ironmen have made the playoffs. The Ironmen will be battling for seeding in the district rankings over the next four games. Next Monday’s game can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM.
