Patriot Athlete of the Week: Gentry Turner
It is a Monday, and today we feature a Bartlesville High School record breaker in cross country and track and field superstar, Gentry Turner.
Turner has been a fixture at the top of the Bruin long distance running dynasty over the past few years, and like many young runners in the area, she got her start in the Bruin Mile.
She talks about what she likes about running and how that event got her going in the sport.
Turner finished in the top-5 in the state in cross country in the fall and she should have a fantastic chance at winning or placing in several longer races in track this spring.
As far as her favorite accomplishment in her high school career – it happened on Thursday. Turner talks about a new feat.
Turner broke her own school record in the 3200-meter race earlier this year, as well. She has held that record for a couple of years.
She says she prefers track to cross country. Mostly because of the consistency of the races vs. some of the cross-country events, which can be altered by different courses.
Turner talks about her plans when she graduates in a couple of months.
