Bartlesville High has its plan for a return to athletics, as Bartlesville Public Schools announced that athletes will be permitted on campus in some capacities starting on Monday, June 15.

Workouts will begin with weight training, where things can be easily be cleaned and controlled.

Thad Dilbeck has officially been on the job as Bartlesville’s Athletics and Activities Director since Monday. He says keeping the student athletes safe and healthy is the number one priority.

Most districts across the state are starting with some activities this Monday, June 8. With Bartlesville breaking in a new athletic director, the extra week of time will give the department a chance to go over protocol and make sure everything is set and understood by June 15.

Dilbeck said the district is following the guidelines that the OSSAA had set before the organization was unable to pass them at its board meeting two weeks ago. Under the plan there will be a gradual increase of ability to do certain activities in preparation for some fall sports practices starting on July 15.

Dilbeck talks about some of the precautions that the district will be taking.
