Bartlesville High is still celebrating its first team sport going to state this spring.

BHS slow pitch softball is headed to Oklahoma City early next week after winning three of four games on Tuesday in its own Regional.

BHS is just in its third year back playing slow pitch after not offering the sport for several years. Bartlesville had to bounce back after losing a 9-8 game to Owasso in game two of the day Tuesday, the Bruins then knocked the Rams out with back-to-back wins, 6-3 and 11-1.

Head coach Kyle Minton credited good pitching to Allie Schullawl and solid defense all day as the mix that got the job done.

Minton talks about Bartlesville’s big day.

Bartlesville had been 0-2 against Owasso all year until its back-to-back wins to advance to state.

Minton credits this slow pitch season to a big improvement in both seasons for BHS softball - Defensively. Bartlesville has raised its fielding percentage almost seven points in the three years they’ve brought back the sport.

Minton talks about how he approaches the spring sport.

BHS will receive its bracket for 6A State later this week after all the Regionals have wrapped up.

Bartlesville will play a single-elimination eight-team tournament all on Tuesday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
