Oklahoma Wesleyan University President, Dr. Everett Piper has given us the university's side of a story told in other media over the weekend.  Newspapers reported on a suit filed in Federal court alleging that Oklahoma Wesleyan violated the Civil Rights Act after expelling the student.

Former student Frances Sutherland tolerated discrimination because she was a single mother while she was enrolled as an Oklahoma Wesleyan nursing student.  Dr. Piper says Sutherland's claims are entirely false.

The case is yet to be heard and Dr. Piper says he believes that when the filing goes before a judge, it will be dismissed for lack of merit.

Dr. Piper also took time to take the other media to task for only telling the story from one point of view without balancing comments from the university.

The university president also took issue with Sutherland's claim that Oklahoma Wesleyan is anti-Catholic when he cites the university's stand with the Little Sisters of the Poor in their case heard in the Supreme Court.
