Nathan Thompson
The U.S. House of Representatives voted 216-210 to oust Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House in an unprecendented move Tuesday.
Oklahoma's five members of the House, all Republicans, voted against McCarthy's removal. Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma led the House debate against removing McCarthy.
Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida successfully kept his word to remove McCarthy from the Speaker's chair after Gaetz alleged McCarthy had made too many deals with Democrats to fund the war in Ukraine.
Eight Republicans sided with Democrats in the vote to remove McCarthy.
They are: Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz.; Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo.; Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn.; Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz.; Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.; Rep. Bob Good, R-Va.; Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C.; and Rep. Matt Rosendale, R-Mont.
