Arvest Bank and Oakley Chevrolet-Buick have named Angela Gerber as the Bartlesville Public School District Teacher of the Month for the month of May. Gerber is a library media specialist at Jane Phillips Elementary School.  In recognition of her Teacher of the Month status, Gerber was presented with a plaque and a check for $300 by Stephen Colaw, Arvest Bank Senior Vice President and Trust Client Advisor and David Oakley Jr., owner of Oakley Chevrolet-Buick.

Gerber has been with the district for two years, both of which have been in her current role of library media specialist at Jane Phillips.  In total, she has been in the teaching profession for eight years.

Angela recalls having a love for helping others since her childhood.  As she grew older, she knew she wanted to work with children, but did not see herself as a teacher. Gerber says hse has not once regretted her decision to become a teacher, and relishes each day she spends teaching her students.

In addition to her role in the library, Gerber takes an active role in activities at Jane Phillips and in the Bartlesville community.  She spearheaded efforts in December to organize the Santa Shop for Jane Phillips students. She is also involved with Wee-Cycle and Kidsignment.
