The Bartlesville City Council approved three actions that, when completed, will help alleviate several problem areas at the Ted Lockin Water Treatment Plant.  Power problems Labor Day weekend prompted City Engineer and Water Utilities Director, Terry Lauritsen to investigate plant vulnerabilities.  The study, conducted by Brown Engineers showed several processes that could damage the water processing system if they were not remedied.  Lauritsen told the council the action in-effect brings the water treatment plant into compliance with changes in code requirements that were made since the plant was built.

The council approved $134,402 in contract expenditures with Brown LLC.  $34,744 for an Arc Flash Analysis – to ensure that electrical circuit breakers open in the correct order to protect processing equipment; $25,860 for work to implement a central Uninterruptable Power Supply; and $75,798  for construction design for a hardened enclosure for switchgear and generating systems at the plant.

In a separate meeting, Finance Director Mike Bailey went before the Bartlesville Municipal Authority – the city’s finance arm – and asked the members to amend the city’s budget by transferring unbudgeted funds to the city’s Water Operating Fund.  The resolutions were approved transferring the funds
