Indians Season Set to Carry On Uninterrupted

The American Legion summer baseball is still set to carry on as usual in Bartlesville for the time being but elsewhere cancellations have started to appear. The American Legion announced on its website Tuesday that is cancelling the regionals and world series due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This would mean the furthest the Indians could advance would be the Oklahoma Legion State Tournament. Bartlesville didn’t participate in the tournament last year. The Indians released a statement on their facebook page about the upcoming season:

“The Doenges Ford Indians will make every effort to play this summer… We have been in contact with AABC, Connie Mack Division specifically and they have yet to postpone any post season play.”

John Pannell is slated to return as the Indians manager as was announced last August. He previously spent 10 seasons heading up the legion program. After an abbreviated high school season, summer ball could feed a hunger for baseball in Bartlesville.

More on the 2020 Bartlesville Indians season in the coming days.
