Oklahoma Wesleyan’s basketball team split the conference opener against Tabor on Wednesday night. The Lady Eagles lost a scrappy battle while the men’s teams led wire-to-wire for a victory.

The OKWU women’s side play hard but fell 72-63 to a highly-regarded team from Tabor College. OKWU trimmed a double-digit second half deficit in the fourth quarter. Freshman Zariah Tillman cut the Tabor advantage to four points on this bucket.

Tillman was one of three Lady Eagles in double-figures. OKWU wouldn’t not get any closer than four points down the stretch. The Lady Eagles fall to 2-3 on the season.

The Eagles men’s team played stifling defense once again to move to 7-0 on the year. The Eagles beat Tabor 66-48. Wesleyan held Tabor to just 32% from the field in a defensive led victory.

The Eagles took a ten-point at the eight-minute mark in the first half and didn’t look back. OKWU struggled a bit out of the gate in the second half but the Blue Jays never mounted a real threat. Austin Poling had 12 points for the Eagles. This second half three-pointer helped OKWU keep a large lead.

The Eagles have won six of their seven by at least 10 points. Both teams will be back in action for a KCAC doubleheader on Saturday at St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas.
