OKWU Fall To McPherson College

It wasn't a good night for both Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles and Lady Eagles basketball teams Tuesday night at McPherson, Kansas as the Bulldogs swept OKWU.  Lady Eagles lost 65-60 while the Eagles lost 81-73.

In the ladies game, OKWU took a 36-29 at halftime, but were outscored 21-6 in the third quarter.  The Lady Eagles led by four late in the game, but the Lady Bulldogs made their free throws down the stretch to pick up the win.  McPherson did their damage in the paint as they scored 38 points, compared to OKWU's 18.  Poor shooting continued for OKWU as they shot 29 percent from the field and 26 percent from the 3-point line (8 for 30).  Kayla Morgan and Tiffany Rieger led the Lady Eagles with 11 points a piece.  Oklahoma Wesleyan led as many as 12 points.  Lady Eagles fall to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in KCAC play.

In the mens game, the Eagles played tough throught the contest, but couldn't hold on down the stretch.  OKWU trailed 38-37 at halftime and was outscored 43-36 in the second half to loose their first KCAC game of the year.  There were 13 led changes and the game was tied 11 times.  Eagles led as many as four points with 14:53 left in the first half.  OKWU shot 43 percent from the field, but struggled from the 3-point line, shooting 23 percent from beyond the arc (6 for 28).  AJ Jack led the Eagles with 21 points and six rebounds while Breiman Alexander finished with 17 points and five rebounds.  Eagles fall to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in KCAC play.

Both the Eagles and Lady Eagles next games will be Thursday, December 1st as they will host Ottawa University.  Ladies play at 6 P.M. while the men will play at 8 o'clock.  You can hear the mens game on Sports Talk 99.1 FM KPGM with the pregame at 7:45.
