"W" to Speak in Tulsa
Former President George W. Bush is scheduled to be the featured speaker at a dinner in Tulsa sponsored by a conservative-leaning group.
Bush will attend the 2013 Liberty Gala Thursday night hosted by the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, a think tank based in Oklahoma City.
The private event is closed to the media.
Bush, a Republican, was elected to two terms as president, serving from 2001-2009. He underwent a heart procedure in August to open a blocked artery that was discovered during his annual physical.
Past gala speakers have included former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, General Tommy Franks, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and the late William F. Buckley, Jr.
