Speaker of the Oklahoma House, Jeff Hickman has appointed Bartlesville's State Representative Earl Sears to serve as one of three house members on the State Capitol Repair Expenditure Oversight Committee.  Republicans Mark McBride of Moore and Sears will serve with Democrat R.C. Pruett of Antlers on the bipartisan committee that will develop the logistics and criteria for the Request For Proposal to repair the nearly century old Capitol Building. The committee will also oversee the repair and renovation process once work begins.

Safety concerns at the Capitol have increased over the past several years due to the interior and exterior of the building literally crumbling and falling apart as well as other serious infrastructure issues.  This past session, the Oklahoma Legislature took action and passed House Joint Resolution 1033 which calls for a $120 million bond issue over 10 years to provide much needed repairs and renovations for the Capitol Building. The repairs will be overseen by the nine-member State Capitol Repair Expenditure Oversight Committee made up of Republican and Democratic appointments by the House, the Senate and the governor.
